Introduction :
Introduction :
2,4-D Amine is a wide
range selective weedicide, which controls broad leaf type
(DICOT) weeds in paddy fields, tea plantations, sugarcane
fields, fruit orchards etc. It is a Translocated
Systematic Post-Emergent Herbicide.

Utility :
2,4-D Amine in liquid
state is fully soluble in water and polar organic solvents
and is packed in 5 litre HDPE containers and 200 litre MS
drums. The liquid character of 2,4-D Amine makes it
advantageous over other types of powder forms of 2,4-D
because of it?s solubility in water and it?s active
ingredient is fully effective.
Type of Weeds
Controlled :
2,4-D Amine
effectively controls all broad leaf (Dicot) type weeds and
creepers.
Use for Tea
Plantations :
2,4-D Amine controls
MIKANIA wonderfully. It also kills Bagracote effectively
and all other broad leaf type weeds and creepers. Mikania
is a very hazardous problem in Tea Plantations which climbs
and covers tea plants, bamboo bari, wire fencing, drains,
shade trees etc. At the time of labour shortage. 2,4-D
Amine kills Mikania thoroughly, while no damage is done
to tea plants and bamboo bari when recommended dose is
applied.
In newly planted tea where no other weedicides are
effective, 2,4-D Amine, when sprayed on broad leaf
weeds, controls weeds most effectively. In mature tea it
controls all broad leaf weeds, except thatch, at the same
dose. We recommend a sticking agent @ 120 cc per 200 litres
of water. SANDOVIT or TRITON A.E. are considered as a most
suitable sticking agent.
Use for Paddy
Fields :
2,4-D Amine controls
all broad leaf type weeds in growing paddy when it comes in
contact with the undesirable weeds.
Use in Thatch
Bari :
After about one month
of burning the thatch bari, broad leaf weeds start
competing with new thatch, 2,4-D Amine controls the
weeds effectively and thus maximum production of thatch is
ensured in minimum area.
Use in Sugarcane
and Orchards :
Dicot type weeds are a
big problem in sugarcane fields and orchards and other
crops like potato etc. 2,4-D Amine controls them
most effectively.
Advantages :
|
1 |
Sedimentation |
There is no sedimentation when mixing
in drum or in machine because of it's liquid
character |
|
2 |
Damage |
There is no damage by moisture or
rain when workers encounter rough and wet weather in
plantations as it is packed in HDPE containers |
|
3 |
Handling |
It's easy to handle because of it's 5
litre HDPE packing |
|
4 |
Wastage |
There is no wastage as the HDPE
containers are so designed that no drops will fall when
taking out 2,4-D Amine from the container |
|
5 |
Compatibility |
Its fully compatible with other
liquid herbicides because of it's liquid
character |
|
6 |
Control |
The control of MIKANIA and Bagracote
and other broad leaf weeds and creepers is more
effective |
Time of
Application :
2,4-D Amine can be
applied throughout the year, but its concentration, when
weeds are soft and succulent, can be lighter and when weeds
are hard, its concentration will have to be stronger.
Age of Weeds :
Though at higher dose
2,4-D Amine will kill even mature broad leaf weeds,
it will kill very effectively with recommended doses when
the weeds and creepers are young and tender. In paddy
fields the weeds should be only 2 inches to 3 inches high
for most effective control.
Recommended Dose
for Application :
When used on young and
tender weeds 1 litre of 2,4-D Amine should be mixed
with 100 litres to 200 litres of water depending on the
type of weeds which is required to be killed.
The spray must come in full contact of the weeds and
creepers in paddy fields for effective control. A higher
dose may be required if the weeds are mature and old.
Type of Spraying
Equipment Recommended :
Normally hand operated
pressure type knapsack sprayers are preferred, but on
bamboo baris or other places where drift is no problem,
power sprayer can be used.
Hazard to
Workers :
Protective measures
should be adopted as per rules of the local Government to
handle the product safely.
